All In Focus
If you’ve used night vision for long, you’ll know the frustration: focus on the distance and anything close up, like a map, your kit or the ground at your feet, turns to a blur. Refocusing the objective every time is fiddly, especially on an articulating binocular or in adverse conditions.
The CHAD Iris solves that with an adjustable iris that screws onto your objective lens. Close it down slightly and your depth of field opens up, so near and far stay sharp together without re-adjusting the main lens. Open it fully and it sits clear of your lens, with no loss of image.
It’s useful in bright conditions too. Closing the iris cuts the light reaching the tube, giving auto-gain devices a form of manual brightness control and reducing bloom around streetlights and other bright sources. Fully closed, it works like a pinhole day cap, so you can leave it fitted. For long-term storage or extended exposure to light, still use a proper lens cap.
The front lens also protects your iris and objective from dust, debris and impacts.
